Abdominal pain can occur with constipation or an upset
stomach or with diarrhea. In most
cases it is mild and intermittent.
However, there are times that abdominal pain can be an emergency.
Signs that abdominal pain is severe enough to warrant
immediate medical attention are:
1)
If the pain is severe
enough to cause the child to double over or refuse to walk.
2)
If the pain is constant or
persists over a few hours, especially if it is worsening with time.
3)
If the pain is accompanied
by bilious vomiting (green colored vomit)
4)
If there are bloody stools
