There are often times when children complain of pain.
These may be after a fall, with an earache or with a sore throat.
If you think your child is in pain, it is advisable to try to
keep them comfortable by giving fever reducer/ pain medications, such as
acetaminophen (Tylenol) or ibuprofen (Advil or Motrin)
If you can get them comfortable with these measures, you
should call the office during normal hours to make an appointment.
If despite appropriate doses of these medications after 30-60
minutes, your child is still complaining quite a bit, call the Dr on call
There are a few kinds of pain that warrant attention:
1)
Abdominal pain (see
abdominal pain complaint in this section)
2)
Testicular pain is a true
emergency and needs emergency evaluation.
3)
Severe headache that does
not improve
